I had the pleasure (and fun) providing portraits for a past client with a modern "studio" look to them.  I have done Alex's maternity at Garden of the Gods and her newborn session in her home for her sweet Finnley.  She reached out to me to see if I could do a seamless backdrop session with her now 6 month old.  We could either have the session at a local studio in downtown Colorado Springs or I could set up in my home and she went with my home!  I was able to leisurely set up everything prior to her arrival and we were able to take our time and just have fun shooting.  

Her munchkin, Finnley, has grown so much and it was so awesome to see her.  I was so happy to see she still had her gorgeous red hair and oh my goodness she has developed quite the adorable smile!  Alex, of course, rocked the session with her professionally done hair and makeup.  Mix that with my fan and some studio lighting and boom, magic!  I'm thrilled that Alex trusted me to provide her with the look she was going for even though we were setup amongst my kids' toys and play kitchen.  

I'm not afraid to admit that I can make a lot of spaces work for photo shoots and many are surprised when I tell them I don't have a studio when they see my work.  One of my claims is that I provide studio quality portraits in the comfort of my clients' homes.  One day I do plan on having my own studio space, whether in my home or a commercial space, but for now, I will give people the option when the occasion arises to utilize my own home.  Fair warning though, just watch out for the legos (just kidding, I definitely pick them up!).
